Losing someone is hard enough without a mountain of paperwork. We take on as much or as little of the estate administration as you would like, explain each step clearly and keep things moving quietly in the background.

How We Can Help

Our probate services

  • Grant of Probate

Where there is a Will, we obtain the Grant of Probate that allows the executors to deal with the estate, including selling or transferring property.

  • Letters of Administration

Where there is no Will, we guide the next of kin through the intestacy rules and obtain Letters of Administration on their behalf.

  • Estate Administration

Full administration of the estate: collecting assets, settling liabilities, dealing with HMRC, preparing estate accounts and distributing to beneficiaries.

  • Executor Guidance

Practical support for executors who want to handle matters themselves but need clear, reliable advice on their duties and the steps involved.

The Process

What estate administration involves

Every estate is different, but most follow broadly the same path.
  1. 1

    An initial conversation

We talk through what has happened, what paperwork exists and what needs to be done first. There is no rush.

  2. 2

    Valuing the estate

We help identify and value the assets and liabilities, and deal with the banks, insurers and other institutions.

  3. 3

    HMRC and the application

We prepare the inheritance tax position and apply to the Probate Registry for the Grant on your behalf.

  4. 4

    Collecting and distributing

Assets are collected in, debts settled, estate accounts prepared and the beneficiaries paid what they are due.

If the estate includes a property that needs to be sold or transferred, our conveyancing team handles that side of things too, so everything stays under one roof. Call us on 07449 567711 for a confidential conversation.
